To all people having a stressful day and because of a conversation on twitter *g*, let us take a moment to remember that it could be worse, you could accidentally give your infant brother to the Goblin King and face insurmountable obstacles and David Bowie's Crotch in order to rescue him.

To anyone who hasn't seen this, it's clips from the 1986 Jim Henson film Labyrinth, to anyone who has, I simply say "YOU REMIND ME OF THE BABE" - because that one is like Ghostbusters, YOU KNOW THE REST.

Also, when David Bowie played at Glastonbury, I tried to persuade my brother to take a banner requesting Magic Dance, but he wouldn't, spoilsport :(

LAST SCENE, because Sarah's speech is all kinds of awesome. Altogether now, "through dangers untold and hardships un-numbered. I have fought my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City..." :D

HAPPY THURSDAY.

I love love love this film, I think I watched this practically every weekend in constant rotation with Ferris Bueller's Day Off for about a year. I was about 12 by the time the videos came out.

Anyway just wondering what the Twitter conversation is about. I do have a twitter but I really don't do much with it. Can you clue me in.

It was just Cherrybina tweeting YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME and that immediately made me think of Labyrinth and Sarah's speech so there was a few tweets going back and forth about how cool Labyrinth is <3

It is a brilliant film! What is your twitter handle? Or is it a personal not fandom account?

Oh I see, I got the impression it was something awful. My twitter handle is the same as my user name. Though I've never tweeted in my life.

Oh the stuff about stress was because several people on my flist seem to having a hard time lately with various health/work and even fandom related stuff so I thought YAY LABYRINTH and thought it might cheer people up <3

Life's kind of been a bitch like that for everyone I think.

I've been off work for the better part of 6 weeks with a trapped sciatic nerve. This is my first proper week back.

No news really, except the synopsis for episode 6 (Morgana enchanting Merlin to be evil! NOOOOOOOOOOO. What if the embrace happens when Merlin is EVIIIIL?). I was freaking out about that a bit earlier. Ack this show, it gives me so much angst.

WATCH LABYRINTH. DO IT. ::enables::

And still, after all these years, and having seen it countless time, I tear up when everyone pops up in Sarah's bedroom at the end with a '...should you need us...'

Because that's what I need every once in a while to be able to be a grown-up, to just immerse myself in a fantasy world and not feel embarrassed or guilty about it.

I love this film and now I'm trying to work out how old my children need to be before I can introduce them to it. This, The Dark Crystal and the original Neverending Story (though they have to read the book as well). I think at 4 and 5 they are still too young. Curses. Four more years to go.

Thank for the memories and the cheer.

Good memories...I swear that David Bowie's tight pants in Labyrinth are what set off puberty for me.

One of my favourite films ever! I find though that it's appreciated most by a particular age group. You ask anyone younger or older than that group and they either don't know it or don't care for it (the majority anyway).

I knew that film word for word when I was young. My friend and I used to dress up and act it out. I was always Sarah cause I insisted that I could do the speech better (what a brat!). I remember my mum used to have these little glass round ornaments and she went mad when we broke one by rolling it down the stairs.

One of my favourite scenes in any film is the 'dance' scene in this one.

Right that's it. I'm so watching this at the weekend. They don't make kids films as good as they used to. *sigh*

I wonder how many times Colin has had to refuse acting out that last scene with Bradley in the bedroom.

I love that movie so much! I use the line YOU HAVE NO POWER OVER ME a lot, and I always hear it in my head in Sarah's voice :D

Ah, nostalgia. Thank you.
I remember loving that movie.
And I remember Barry Norman totally missing the point about Bowie's character in his review on Film '86.
