I have just watched for the 6th time. It is GLORIOUS. For once, Arthur is his old endearing self and not being a bit of an ass, He CARES and he looks so worried, like maybe (please god please) he realises how much he truly values Merlin and how awful he would feel if he lost him.

I love the hesitation, it's like he knows he has to do the right thing, BUT IT'S MERLIN. I also appreciate that for the first time since series one, Arthur has SEEN Merlin risking his life for him and he knows and cares <3

And Merlin's begging DDDDD: That's just heartbreaking. The way Arthur cuts him off and says "Merlin" and Merlin is just looking at him. I so want to know what Arthur was going to say next before he was interrupted.

This makes me so unbelievably happy!

I already felt like their bromance in Episode 1 was already too good to be true-I know it wasn't epic and nothing compared to S1 but it was leagues better than anything S3 had to offer us...I really didn't expect more and was coming into this season expecting to be disappointed by the continuing degeneration of their relationship.

Gods, I sincerely hope this love stays with them and develops for the rest of the season.

At this point, just not having a reset was enough to cheer us all up! As you say, S3 was pretty dire at times, but this was better than I was expecting! I half worried that Arthur would just call Merlin an idiot and act put upon that he had to bother sending him home. Thank goodness the Arthur I know and love came through <3

I hope this sets the tone for the rest of S4, I DO.

LOL, I feel like a bitter crone who can't feel joy anymore, since everyone seems to be flailing, and my reaction to the scene was "Well, at least they're finally getting somewhere. -.- It was a damned long wait."

You are not a bitter crone <3 I am flailing because IT IS ABOUT TIME, DAMMIT. This is the M/A I have been waiting for, as nice as their scenes were last night they were all very 'same old, same old'. This is something that finally feels different and more genuine between them. So I am flailing with joy over it and wanting to write a million fics ;)

Although I worry that as Merlin and Arthur are pretty much being separated right at the beginning of next week's episode, that scene may be the only serious M/A interaction we see... yep I'm a worry wart :D

Merlin on the floor, barely moving, and Lancelot, and Arthur, and Leon I love you and I know it's the right thing to do but this is Merlin. He's saved your life and Camelot and Arthur countless times. Maybe just this once we can put him at the top of our priority list?

Merlin's dying and Arthur wants to take him home even though he needs to carry on with the quest, but Arthur's scared, because he just saw Merlin run in front of him, and Merlin isn't supposed to do that. He isn't a knight, and yes they have no way of defending themselves anyway but Merlin has nothing. Merlin is dying and it's Arthur's fault and he can't carry on with the quest, he can't save everyone's lives without making sure he's helped save Merlin's, and the realisation scares him down to the very core.

Sorry I just have so much inspiration right now it just keeps coming out

And the whole time he's on the quest he'll keep thinking of Merlin and hoping he made it back safely, and the knights will notice he is preoccupied and maybe Gwaine will be a bit surprised because Arthur hides his feelings so well but Leon will be all TRUST ME, HE CARES.

I loved that Lancelot immediately stepped up to take Merlin back to Camelot. That's so like Lancelot. So loyal. BFF with Merlin. :) But oh, Merlin wanting to stay with Arthur! *is feeling the love and devotion between M/A*

I'm glad you are so happy. It is a very powerful scene. I love how Bradley nailed the emotions there.
