My Favourite View.

I have mentioned my favourite view on my way to work a few times, and today I finally had the chance to stop on the way home and take some photos of it! So here is my favourite view, for reference, looking out across the Somerset Levels to Glastonbury Tor on the horizon :) It's come out a little hazy because it was very sunny, in reality it's this whole gorgeous patchwork of fields with a church spire in the foreground.



Also, while I am here, thank you to everyone for the v-gifts! It's really cheered me up this week :) :) And in other good news, I have finally set up a voluntary work placement at an archives, starting with a three month trial and hopefully to continue one full day a week.

It's such a lovely area, when we were little Mum and Dad used to have a running game with me and my brother over who could spot the Tor first whenever we went in that direction :D

I can't imagine that at all! I'm so used to hills and valleys, even here in mostly-boring Somerset. My nearest city, Bath, is nestled in a valley. I didn't even realise for years until I got a different bus and we came in along a high road and there it was, surrounded by hills and fields.

Totally randomly, I was thinking of your fic today - the one where Merlin spills wine on Arthur's shirt and it turns out that Arthur has been in love with him FOREVER. I was sort of re-reading it in my head at work and it brought me much amusement and very enjoyable distraction. I do love that fic, every now and again I find a fic that just seems to hit all my emotional kinks and when I am reading I hope that something will happen next, AND THEN IT DOES.

I'm so touched that you liked it so much! It makes me ridiculously happy that you were thinking of it and that it made you happy like your fics make me and I flailed like a flaily thing when reading your comment. *hugs* ♥ But I had such a hard time writing it, and I will never get out of thinking that it is a complete pile of rubbish. Auuuuugh! I will never not be embarrassed by it. /o\

NOOOOOOOO.

It is not a pile of rubbish at all! It is one of my favourite fics to re-read, honestly, and I am always surprised anew by how subtle it is. When I first read it, I thought Arthur really didn't like Merlin all that much and didn't spot all the little hints you put in the first few scenes (Arthur watching Merlin clean, the little glance towards his bedroom, the way he looks at his shirt and Merlin thinks he's being snobby). When I had read it all and saw the whole plot, I went back and re-read the start and saw all the bits you had included. Also the scene at the pub is just ADORABLE. All the knights teasing Arthur about his feelings for Merlin! I also love how insecure Arthur is about the relationship, it feels like how a real relationship would be, and of course that they are not instantly 'in love' - they bicker and challenge each other just as much and Merlin is no pushover! The plot is such a fresh take on the idea of them hating each other but having 'secret feelings'.

It's so far from being rubbish and embarrassing I can't even say. It's the kind of fic I wish I could write <3

It is a nice drive :) I'm a very nervous driver so I was dreading it, but it turns out most people go into the city on a different, bigger, road and my route is the one used by the locals and gloriously quiet most of the time!
