A Mini Arthurian Adventure

It was a sunny Saturday morning and Mini Arthur was perusing his usual pages of interest on the internet when he spotted something very exciting.

That was all Arthur needed to know.

Immediately, a plan was formulated to investigate this exciting new discovery and claim it for the Love of Camelot.

The so-called 'AA Atlas of Great Britain 2010' was the oldest map they could find in the archives.

I was duly summoned to provide transportation, since Merlin flatly refused to walk the requisite nineteen miles and threatened to delete all Arthur's internet favourites unless he got a lift.

We set off, but Arthur was a little over-excited.



After the first ten miles, I was forced to strap him into the back seat along with Merlin, so I could actually drive in peace.

Arthur gave a whole new meaning to the term 'back seat driver.'

Finally we arrived at Glastonbury Tor.



Arthur was quick to make his claim.

Merlin was not impressed by Arthur's Tower.

But the Quest was not over until the Tor had been scaled. The path took some time to find, but finally they were off.

The sooner they climbed it, the sooner Merlin could start making comments about Arthur's Inadequate Tower.

However, as it turned out, the tor was Really High.

Being 4 inches high had never seemed such a challenge

But they kept going for the Love of Camelot (and because the signs said they couldn't cut up through the grassy bits).



And eventually Arthur's Tower was in sight.

Merlin knew it wasn't really that big, it was just the angle.

For which they were both somewhat relieved.

Relief

It was time to pose for the Celebratory Photograph as proof of Camelot's new territory.

Merlin had done some reading up too, and there was no way he was staying here with Arthur for eternity.

And so ended the Arthurian Adventure :D :D

:D I have no idea why Arthur and Merlin didn't make out on the tor! I purposefully went for a walk around the tower and everything, but when I came back there was just a slightly awkward silence and Merlin was busy admiring the medieval stonework. I wouldn't like to speculate on what went on while I was gone.

I hadn't been up there since a school trip! I've been to Glastonbury a lot, but somehow not the tor. I always like to look out for it on the way to Wells though, just as you come round a certain bend, there it is :D :D I was pretty tired out from climbing it, so I can only imagine how inch-long legs felt ;)

Oh, I love this :D! Especially them climbing up the stairs - and their utter relief when they reach the top :D! (Though I suspect just a tiny bit of exhaustion may have played a part in them lying on the floor ... :)) You can tell them that I am very impressed with their endurance, though - those stairs look steep!

Sometimes Merlin has to work hard to find an angle for teasing Arthur, and sometimes Arthur becomes obsessed with a tower and makes it all too easy for him ;)

It was very tough at times! They do not like to make my life TOO easy for me :D :D It's possible the pair of them took a few headers off that gate... But don't tell them I said so.

Sadly there is no fic to go with this :D Although I wouldn't put it past Arthur to pen his own Epic Account of his Noble Quest for the Tor (with very marginal help from Merlin).

Poor Mini Arthur, he was thwarted in his leadership efforts! But quite honestly even magic couldn't help him reach the pedals so...

I'm sure they'll both be looking EXTREMELY INNOCENT when you get back, leading you to speculate wildly over what they might be hiding :D :D

It was the least I could do after making them live on my shelf indoors all this time :D I just hope this has satisfied Arthur's craving for adventure for a little while. I think Merlin's perfectly happy to potter around at home, reading books, filching biscuits from the cupboard, and making up ways to annoy Arthur.

I LOVE THAT SONG! Especially the bit where he refers to buttercups as 'the little children's dower' because those (and daisies for daisy chains of course) really are :) It was a perfect day for climbing the tor, not too hot but clear enough to see for miles!

Well... I suspected magic might have helped Merlin a little bit there, but I've been sworn to silence because Arthur still hasn't stopped looking shocked and confused and questioning Merlin on his Secret Fitness Regime...

It was a very proud moment when we finally staggered to the top! :D :D

That was great. I really needed a laugh...and I got one. I am sure though that Arthur is denying being "over-excited" by the quest...he was merely scouting territory! ( :) ). Since I don't live in England and will probably never get there...it was nice to see the pictures too.

He was OF COURSE scouting territory, he was shocked that I suggested any different ;) He has been trained to kill since birth after all, and you just don't know what sort of dangers lurk on the roads of rural Somerset...

I think they were in better shape than I was too! I had to buy a carton of orange squash from the honesty box and have a sit down in the tower for ten minutes :D :D It wasn't even that hot, it's just a longer climb than it looks from the bottom. I haven't been up there since a school trip years ago, clearly I was remembering it shorter...

It's ok. Mini Arthur is busy writing up his personal account of their Epic Quest (with illustrations!), and Mini Merlin is eating a whole square of chocolate and watching Camelot because he gets to be really badass in that and Arthur is a bit of a drip.

So I am safe to say that they really DO give me a lot of work ;) I foresee even more work in the future, I'm sure :D
