Mar. 11th, 2011 07:41 pmHi everyone,
Sorry I haven't replied to the replies I had to my last entry yet, I fully intend to (and I am really grateful for all the wonderful advice) but it's all been up in the air today because my brother Richie (long-suffering brother who attends all the Merlin expo panels for me and texts me info) is in Japan on holiday. We heard he was ok and just stranded somewhere at about lunchtime today, but now there is this nuclear emergency and he's only about 70 miles away from the power station. My mum and I deal with this sort of family stress is very different ways, she likes to go on and on about it and imagine worst case scenarios, I like to try and not think about it until I know anything for certain. As you can imagine, these methods do not mesh well.
Anyway, I just wanted to say that all my thoughts are with those in Japan right now, and anyone affected by it, or who has friends and family anywhere affected xx

Date: 2011-03-12 11:48 pm (UTC)That does seem to be the biggest worry at the moment, all those poor people that live nearby much be terrified. But as you say, Japan is experienced with this sort of thing which is some comfort at least.
Richie's back in Tokyo today and in touch with the British embassy so we feel a little better about him now.

Date: 2011-03-12 11:50 pm (UTC)Thank you <3 We had better news today, he contacted us via Facebook and is back in Tokyo at his hotel, awaiting further instructions from the embassy. It was such a relief to speak to him, even just via IM.

Date: 2011-03-13 07:58 pm (UTC)But you know what's really strange? I've rarely ever seen the one with the Daim stuff sold in Austria - the most common kinds are the normal ones and the ones with hazelnut ... and caramel recently. :)

Date: 2011-03-13 08:06 pm (UTC)I love the Daim ones, they are my weakness :) :) Those and the milk and white chocolate ones. MMMMMMM.

Date: 2011-03-13 08:15 pm (UTC)As far as I know the core consists of marzipan which is surrounded by nougat which is surrounded by chocolate ... approximately 1000000000000 calories but SO. GOOD! :D
My best friend was in Finland last year and she kept sending me the Daim chocolate, because I was just crazy about it - combining it with Milka sounds delicious!
By the way, I forgot to ask - where did you go when you were in Austria? Did you go skiing :D?

Date: 2011-03-13 08:26 pm (UTC)I didn't get to ski in Austria. It was actually my first ever foreign holiday when I was 12, and I had always wanted to go to Austria because I had grown up reading the Chalet School novels (set in the Tyrol) and watching Heidi and The Sound of Music and I was a tad obsessed with the thought of chalets and alps. We stayed in Kirchberg, but we travelled up to see a glacier and went on a chair lift up a mountain and I drank my bodyweight in hot chocolate (because they always had that in the chalet school). We happened to be there at the same time as their hot air balloon festival, it was such a brilliant holiday! I would love to go back one day, all the meadows and woodland was like something straight out of my storybooks :)

Date: 2011-03-13 08:41 pm (UTC)Oh, Heidi - I've still got all the videos :). But I've never seen The Sound of Music - everybody in the world seems to have seen it, but if you ask most of the people in Austria they've never heard about it, which is pretty weird ^^ I did watch that cartoon that's based on it, though
