Tangled, and a Very Silly Old Bear.
Feb. 2nd, 2011 10:29 pmI saw Tangled!! And I loved it :D :D Except for some annoying noisy teenagers at the back of the cinema. I thought it was funny and charming and the little chameleon was brilliant (especially when he blew a raspberry). I actually cried at the lantern scene and I've since downloaded the song too (I am a sucker for Disney).
I also loved the trailer for the new Winnie the Pooh film that was on before it. It's a return to the early style of animation complete with the narrator and his book and the cast interacting with them! And even better, Christopher Robin has a British accent again :) I adored Winnie the Pooh and the Blustery Day when I was little so I was beaming like an idiot through this trailer and was left feeling so nostalgic for how possible this all seemed back then, finding the Hundred Acre Wood or the Magic Faraway Tree or a secret garden, or going through the wardrobe into another world (believe me I tried, mum and dad's wardrobe had a distressingly solid back panel). I think the choice of song really helped with the nostalgia. For children, that imaginative secret world always feels like somewhere only they know :D
ETA: The trailer won't show up properly as an embedded youtube vid on my flist view, but it does in my 'recent entries.' Not sure why! But it is there :)

Date: 2011-02-03 10:14 pm (UTC)Ditto for the Faraway Tree! I would be so adept at avoiding Dame Washalot AND Mister Whatzisname, and after I'd gone up the ladder and had an adventure (I'm hoping for the Land of Birthdays) I would call in on Silky the Fairy and visit Moonface and go the rest of the way on the Slippery Slip. And of course I would be home in time for tea, because no children's adventure finished without getting safely home :) Sounds like a perfect day out to me!

Date: 2011-02-03 09:01 pm (UTC)I loved ( LOVED LOVED LOVED) winnie the pooh as a kid. I named my cat tigger, had a pooh beadspread, had and still have all of the classic pooh character stuffed animals, have the classic animation movies, have the books, wrote a paper on philosophy within AA Milne's work in undergrad....ok you get it.
I will now sing the hephelumps and woozles song all day....

I am also most intrigued by your philosophy paper on A.A Milne!
