It is snowing! As in, it is on the ground AND STILL FALLING FROM THE SKY. YAAAAAAAY.

Maybe it will actually stay for a bit this time :)

I also took a back-up Masterpiece, because you can never have too many. I call this one, 'If You Like Her So Much You Can Have Her. PS. She Barks.'



Aaaaaand lastly, A REC. vensre has finished their Ficart story!! And it is wonderful modern AU Gwen/Morgana fic with them as fashion designers. GO SEE. It's a really beautiful snapshot of their relationship and makes me yearn for series one and two when this could almost be canon (er... if Camelot had fashion designers. You know what I mean.). As always, Ven writes in a way that you feel like every word has been weighed and found to be exactly right :) :)

Lastly lastly, a first review of episode 13 is up and it says it finishes on a 'knowingly cute' scene. I'm hoping M/A (and huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuug), but I'm guessing we're getting Disney instead :(

I think your icon says it all really :( I think the writers have forgotten what (or who) the show is meant to be about. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that they'll surprise us with a hug, and I will actually burst with the squee.

And thank you! She is a little noisy, but we've put up with her for 12 years so I guess we may as well keep her now ;)

I really don't understand the writers, to be honest. They know who their audience is... families and the fandom. Kids and their parents hardly care about character development and plot...they're just in for the fun. It wouldn't kill the script writers to give some more of what WE want :|

Ugh, I bet you're right about the ending! And Lancelot will be all noble and self-sacrificing about it. They created two really natural couples there. Prat Arthur and his idiot Merlin in all their bickering, adorable, can't-be-without-each-other glory, and the classic noble romantic pairing in Gwen and Lancelot with the love at first sight and passionate declarations. And then they just sort of... squished the wrong two people together really awkwardly and left us with two spare parts and a central pairing that don't seem to have any reason to love each other.

I know, it's been so weird this series. They set Merlin/Arthur up as such a great couple. I mean, if one of them were female I cannot believe they wouldn't be THE couple, or at least the unofficial one that everyone shipped more than the official pairing. They are the stereotypical couple I love, all pigtail pulling and imperfectly adorable and devoted to each other (even if they hate to admit it). It's why I can't ship either of them with anyone else. The fact that they don't get as much screentime doesn't suddenly make them LESS perfect for each other, so how could I imagine them with somebody different? It literally Does Not Compute, and just thinking about it feels weirdly like they're being unfaithful!

If I can't have an M/A scene then yes, it better at least feature Merlin! I'm sure I read somewhere that he's the main character, but series 3 seems determined to prove me wrong ;)

You might be right on the Merlin/Gaius though! Maybe a cheesy laugh over their usual side of ham in the physician's chambers?!?

Great snow pics!

Because of the knowingly bit, I'm more apt to think the final scene will feature Arthur questioning Merlin about Excalibur or something else along those Merlin-knows-more-than-he's-telling-Arthur lines. After all, there is nothing 'knowingly' cute about having Gwen and Arthur kiss yet again...in fact, in the pics where it looks like they have their happy little reunion, we have Lancelot looking on, which if anything should cast a bit of a shadow over their embrace. Even if Gwen doesn't look twice at Lancelot in the finale, the viewer is still aware of what the future will most likely bring in regards to the triangle so his very presence in a happy G/A scene should at least serve to make the audience wonder (or worry if they're big shippers). I'd call that more knowingly foreshadowing than anything else.

Anyway, I hope the ep does close on a M/A scene, and I'd lovelovelove a hug. The only thing I don't want is for Arthur to think Merlin did less than nothing in their mission to recapture Camelot and to be ribbing him about it in the final frame. I do worry that since Arthur presumably won't get to witness Merlin doing his magic thing, he'll be all confused and angry when Merlin up and disappears to go get Excalibur (I'm hoping Merlin will give some kind of a plausible excuse for having to leave before he takes off) or that Arthur will continue to think of Merlin as his loyal but not very helpful servant. I want Merlin to get some credit even if he can't reveal everything he did to help Arthur in the final 2 eps.

That's the kind of 'knowingly' I could live with :) I'll be interested to know how they play that A/G scene too, with Lancelot there. I think that will give us a big hint as to how they're going to approach the triangle, if they're even going to bother. Maybe Lancelot will be all nauseatingly happy for them :(

Eek! Good point. I really hope not. I can just imagine a "Merlin! Trust you to be hiding during all the fighting like usual" ::everyone laughs:: ::fangirls break things::

Let's hope Merlin DOES give a good explanation. It's another silly bit of the show really, that Merlin keeps disappearing and Arthur either doesn't care, doesn't notice, or actually thinks Merlin is just skiving/hiding (which would make no sense given how Merlin is always by his side the rest of the time, even in dangerous situations).

I think, from my flist alone, that Merlin getting some recognition and appreciation AT LEAST is what the majority of fans really really want. When he did the whole speech in the Gilli episode, I was hoping it was building up to something, and I am still hoping that!

In my head the ideal ending would be something like "Boom! Magic reveal!", cut to Arthur's (shocked?) face and then see you next season. Buuuut I don't think that is going to happen, except in my head. A girl can dream!

That would be a BRILLIANT ending. And what a cliffhanger! I was kind of hoping we would get that at the end of series two. That Merlin would send the dragon away, breath a sigh of relief and then turn to find Arthur staring at him. Dun dun DUN.

That would have made me very happy, and fandom would have EXPLODED with magic reveal scenarios :D

I think we've had enough cute moments between Arthur and Gwen to last several seasons by now. I think the finale needs to bring the focus back to Merlin and Arthur, they're the heart of the show! They better at least get ONE decent moment in the finale ::glares at producers::

Yeah, I'll be reeeally annoyed if we don't get ONE M/A scene in the last ep. We have in the past 2 and ok, there's a lot of things happening now, but just one scene is all I want! The last scene will most likely be the Arthur/Gwen kiss though, but I don't see the harm in them adding a M/A one on the end of that!

I got loads of snow too! I love it if I can stay indoors and look at it, or even play in it, but it's a bit of a 'mare when it comes to being stuck at work *groan*.

I know! It was such a shock this morning :D We weren't supposed to get any more, even the local weatherman was surprised on the news.

If the final scene isn't M/A, then I'm hoping it is at least ensemble and not A/G. Although I suppose A/G would be about par for the course after series 3!! If it is I fully plan to mute the telly and stare fixedly at a picture of Merlin and Arthur gazing deeply into each other's eyes instead ;)

I think that sounds like a good plan. I've been going back and forth between thinking I'll maybe watch, and then that I definitely won't. Ack! Stupid Merlin. I'll probably stick to my original 'read reactions' first plan. I wish someone could magically edit me all the bits with Merlin and Arthur and omit A/G and evil Morgana. But I guess that wouldn't leave much of an episode...

Agreed on that! I adore her purple dress (in your icon), I just don't want her to be all evil and then pushed out of the OT4 forever. I realise she probably has already, but still, I don't want her and the gang permanently estranged :( I hope she and Arthur get some good scenes anyway, where he challenges her and she gets to somehow explain what the hell her reasoning is.
