I don't know if I have anyone on my flist from Boston, but I hope all of you and your loved ones are safe and well tonight.

I suppose they saw an opportunity because of so many people gathered together and such a high profile event. It's just so unexpected, as you say a marathon is hardly a controversial event where you might expect trouble.

It was heartening to see the footage just after the blast and how many people ran to the scene to help.

I would have thought NYC or Washington would have been more of a focus than Boston - although the Boston Marathon is a big deal on the East Coast, esp. in the Boston area. I guess it depends on who did it and what their aim was.

Just insanity.

While it does make sense that NYC or Washington would be more of a focus, the Boston Marathon is a huge deal. I know we Bostonians love it but it's more than that - it's an iconic race and considered the elite marathon in the country. As you know, I'm not in Boston right now but I am a Bostonian. All my family and friends have checked in, including my brother (a Boston police officer) who was on duty about a mile away from the explosions. Thanks for asking and your good thoughts.

I hope your brother is still ok! I am watching live feed from MIT, I don't know what on EARTH is going on this week.but I hope your family and friends stay safe and well xx

Thanks, sweets. I'm at work so listening to the Boston police scanner. It's just craziness. I mean, with my brother, I'm often waiting to hear news, especially when something is going down in his district but this is such a different situation. :((
