Because this is both amusing and depressing.

The Daily Fail out does itself!

Don't worry, if you're feeling a little irritated you need only read a few of the 'worst rated' comments below to realise you are definitely on the winning side.

I think it's true the good looking girl's get their man and the plain one's don't take a look at alot of the high flying women most of them are not that great
- ROBBY, BOURNEMOUTH

Fortunately for Robby, I don't think the 'high flying women' will be bothering him too much.

No woman would work when they can live off a man. FACT! In my experience they just want the easy life, especially if they can divorce you a few years later, take the kids and shack up with your old bowling buddy just because he's taller and "appreciates art." I agree with this study.
- Quincy, Nottingham

Hands up who thinks this DEFINITELY happened to Quincy.

How many woman do you see in the traditional men's jobs. Rather than an outcry about the lack of woman in board rooms, why not an outcry about the lack of woman down pits or in steel works. Either you want equal rights or your don't.
- Tim, Sheffield.

I actually agree with Tim here, and the moment Britain reopens its coal mines and revives its dead steel industry I for one will be straight down there. Providing anyone will employ me, what with the massive cultural bias against women working underground that led to it being illegal between 1842 and 1900 and thereafter extremely rare.

I think we had the wrong role model in charge of the country in the 1980's, she didn't believe in manufacturing and killed it rather than improving it. She then sold off all our countries wealth. Since that time PC and H&S have crept in. Before ladies take on the top roles in the country, they need to start at the bottom like anybody else. Thatcher was arrogant and many ladies have followed her lead. I only respect people who walk their talk, not those who think they can boss others around.
- Tim, Sheffield.

ARGH Tim, you're just confusing me now! On the one hand, Thatcher WAS a pretty terrible role model, for both men and women, and she did kill off manufacturing etc etc. But I'm really not sure what that has to do with women working hard and developing a career because they're too unattractive to get a man. You say women need to start at the bottom like everyone else, I'm going to need some sort of time frame for that. Let's be fair, Tim, women have been at entry level in the global employment market since the time of the hunter gatherer, so I think the real question here is how many millenia would you say need to pass before they can progress up the ladder and you can stop referring to them as 'ladies'? It's a tough one, Tim, and I don't really have an answer either.

Thank god John from London has worked it all out for us.

You make it sound like men have high expectations , when in reality , have you ever met a western woman ?, they live in fairy tales with their prince charming ideals , probably because society is too easy on them and never forced them grow up . The truth of the matter is women don't even know what they want themselves
- John, London.

You might well wonder why women prefer to live in fairy tales with their Prince Charming ideals (see what I did there, John? It's called 'appropriate use of capitalisation'), but then you read a comment like John's and it all becomes glaringly obvious.

That was actually weirdly fun XD Now back to writing my essay, since I need a Plan B for my life of desolate spinsterhood.

I actually don't know whether to laugh or cry over this stuff.

I want it all, personally. I will refrain from ranting about how our society doesn't encourage women (especially). Yes, stopping now. Before things get ugly in your sweet funny journal.

I both laughed AND cried over it, it's hard not to really :(

The Daily Mail really is the worst!

You, lady, do satire very well :D That was hilarious. Although I don't know why you're torturing yourself with that rag!

I am blaming Mark Gatiss. I follow him on twitter and he tweeted a link. As soon as I saw that headline, I just HAD to find out what on earth it was all about. Got to love that the Mail proudly has a 'Femail' supplement that is the most misogynist claptrap you could ever have the misfortune to read!

I would not even wipe my arse with the mail, because my arse deserves better! ;)

I KNOOOOOW.

In my defence, it was only the online version I was linked to. They always have the paper version at work in the canteen and I refuse to read it, everything in it is just bitter and nasty and depressing D:

Whaaaat is this??? I...um...yeah, I got nothing. If I think too much on this, I might end up breaking necks things. So instead, I will change the subject.

CHANGE SUBJECT: Have you read this? http://ohnotheydidnt.livejournal.com/67909203.html

P.S.: sideeyeing the LJ cut scissor icon so hard.

I hate the new LJ scissors cut, it looks so rubbish :(

I can't believe that ontd article! Whatever happened to reading for fun? Is that not allowed any more? I happily admit to reading the pony and ballet stories of my childhood sometimes, JUST FOR FUN. That man would probably be disgusted with me :/

And with me! I will read whatever I damn well please, Mr. Stein, thank you very much. Just because a books is classified as YA doesn't mean only kids can read them. What a snob.

Lurking in all these well-reasoned and thoughtful comments is reason number umpty-eleven why I've never thought most men were worth taking a second look at. And, sadly, many women.

Yes, there were a few women agreeing too. It's like turkeys voting for Christmas!

OMG! I don't know whether to laugh or cry. If I laugh it might be a tad hysterical (well, it would be *g* probably the fault of my biology)

We're hysterical lady types, it cannot be helped ;)

It says a lot about my persistent faith in humanity that I thought 'surely the Mail will have one counter quote at the end, surely', but noooooo, of course it didn't.

I believe the Fail operates at 'DMT' (Daily Mail Time) which is roughly 80 years before our own.

Pretty awful stuff. I'm not surprised, though. I've been hearing it all my life. Had to fight my way up the ladder and endured lots of pay discrimination over the years. I'd hoped that my daughters would have it easier than me....
