I was being all nostalgic tonight and watching cartoon intros on youtube, when I was reminded of this gem of my childhood.

Origin stories for fictional characters can, I'm sure, be difficult sometimes, or inspiring, or completely logical. Or they can make you wonder if the writers were stoned, working to an impending deadline, or wanted to make it to the pub before last orders.

I bring you SUPERTED, a staple of English and Welsh telly in the 1980s. It's only 47 seconds of your time, but worth it for the amount of times you'll find yourself saying "wait... what?"

Being a child of the 80's 'SuperTed' seemed like a perfectly lucid creation to me. The same with Bananaman and the Raggy Dolls. When you look back at it though, you have to wonder what effect they had on our childhood development!

Not only did we have the influence of the new shows created in the 80's, but we also had the repeats of the kids shows from the 70's, which were all produced in a drug fueled haze. They are so surreal that they make Sponge Bob Square Pants look like a Mike Leigh film.

Kid's shows nowadays are so boring. They're all so educational and teach stuff like morals and values. I'm sure that can only be bad thing... ;)
