I was just flicking through the new Radio Times and I saw this and thought some of the parents on my flist might find it interesting! Although I guess it is limited to British parents for now :( Anyway, CBeebies (the BBC channel for young children) is launching a new children's tv show on Monday called Tree Fu Tom with Sophie Aldred and David Tennant doing the voices (hence me reading the article in the first place).

Not only is the premise adorable (Tom is able to transform into a magical superhero, travelling to 'Treetopolis' - an enchanted, miniature world nestled in an ancient tree at the bottom of his garden), but it sounds like a really fun and unique idea for a series as Tom (and the watching children) perform special movement routines to do magic and presumably save the day :)

The producer says - What the children won't know is that the 'Tree Fu' spell moves they're copying have all been designed by Child Occupational Therapists and Physiotherapists from the movements that experts use to help children with conditions like Dyspraxia to assist and enhance the development of all participating children (whether they have movement challenges or not). The movements are designed to teach children new skills and help them improve their abilities in foundation movements essential for all complex movement – anything from learning to write to playing football..

Making these movements into magic spells sounds like a really clever idea to me, I think I would have loved that when I was little!
